Cross-Contamination Risk Assessment in Inpeco’s FlexLab Automation Systems

Cross Contamination Risk Assessment in Inpeco's FlexLab Automation Systems

Abstract

Since 1990, Inpeco has been developing Total Lab Automation (TLA) systems to enable   Laboratories with full control over diagnostic processes, with a focus on traceability, safety, and efficiency. FlexLabTM, Inpeco’s proprietary brand, is the only fully open automation system that allows laboratories to connect the analyzers of their choice from various vendors for the clinical specialties they need. Inpeco’s automation systems maintain strict sample control by preserving coupled physical and digital information, ensuring sample integrity and reducing the risk of human error. This study evaluates the level of prevention from cross-contamination risk in FlexLabTM systems. The study evaluated three different work-type configurations, encompassing 11 tube types and 12 automation modules, for a total of 4,650 tubes. The tested modules covered automation processes across the input, pre-analytical, and post-analytical modules, processing both positive and negative sample tubes. All samples were analyzed using the Hologic Panther system. The results indicated a zero cross-contamination rate under the tested conditions for FlexLab™ systems, confirming the suitability of Inpeco systems for deployment in high-sensitivity environments. This ensures reliable outcomes across diverse applications, including molecular diagnostics, within multi-specialty automation solutions.
